WHY DOES MY AC KEEP RUNNING?

As the hottest part of the summer is amongst us, our Air Conditioners are working over time. As a result, some of the units may continue to run longer than a normal cycle. Before you “Call the Guys You Can Trust,” take a look at these potential issues.

SIMPLE MAINTENANCE TO POTENTIALLY FIX AC PROBLEMS

  • Thermostat Battery: Check your thermostat battery. At times, a low battery can make it difficult for your thermostat to function properly.
  • Air Filters: It is very important to make sure your air filters are clean. As discussed in our Previous Article, dirty air filters add resistance and reduce airflow.
  • Ductwork: Loose and improperly connected ductwork can cause your AC to run constantly. Make sure your ductwork is connected without any poor connections.
  • Outside Condenser: Make sure the outdoor condenser unit is free of debris. Also, another simple step is to wash off the fins of the condenser with a garden hose as dirt and dust can clog the unit.
